Today, we honor Ben Franklin as one of our Founding Fathers and as one of America's greatest citizens. Although he was born in Boston, the city of Philadelphia is remembered as the home of Ben Franklin. In Philadelphia, you can find both Ben's gravesite and the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial. Benjamin Franklin had his first child with a woman unknown when he was about 22, in 1728. Deborah Read, his wife of over 40 years raised William Franklin (1728-1813) as her own. William had one child, a son; William Temple Franklin 1762-1823.  Ben Franklin and his wife Deborah had their first child together in 1732, a girl, Frances Folger Franklin. Unfortunately she died in 1736 from smallpox. Their second and last child together was another girl, Sarah Franklin born in 1743. Most of Benjamin's descendants came from Sarah who had 8 of the 9 grandchildren (William Franklin had 1 child). Sarah Franklin married Richard Bache 1737-1811.
