The first thing you should do when starting your family tree is to have the right
family tree template(s). Granted, you could use blank paper though this will prove to be a disorganized pain.

The first template I suggest to print is the "Research Calendar". This allows you to keep track of every family tree source you have. This will show to be important as you will never forget how you got your outcomes. This is FREE to print.

This will allow you to write down anything that can not be photocopied. This is great for things like Deeds or land grants, or things you may find in Microfilm. You can print it here FREE.
