| August 26th,
2007- Mom
would be turning 71.
I can hardly believe she didn't make it to her 70s,
my mother deserved to see more years.
Today, like most Sundays, started with
tennis.
I took Devin to work at 7:45am and rushed to Dad and Barry's
area to play. I picked dad up and we hit the ball back and forth until
Barry, Todd, and Jordan got there.
Jamieson Journal 40
Barry came with Logan and Logan's
friend Clayton who were swimming and hit a few balls around. Dad and I
played Todd and Jordan the 1st game and won 6-0. Barry and Todd teamed
against dad and I, we had set point though ended up losing 5-7.
Then
Barry and Dad played Todd and I and we won 6-1. Barry and Todd teamed
against Jordan and myself and again we reached set point and blew it. We
lost 5-7. The last game Todd and I played one-on-one and he creamed me
0-6. It was evident I was completely frustrated, though Todd played
good.
From there, dad and I went to Carmen
and Preston's house for Missy's baby shower, which is going to be
represented with men and women. Samantha, Allison, Missy and her mother
did all the planning and cooking. Samantha made grandpa's (dad's) hot
beef specialty which has been a family favorite for decades.
Jamieson Journal 40
Through out the day I had 5. Dad and I got
there at around 2pm. Amongst the people that showed up were; Rick and
Bonnie, Leigh, Anneka, Christian, Amber, Allyvia, Kevin, Jessica, and
Bianca, Samantha, Jacob, Timmy, Barry, Logan, Tara, Nat, Joey, Kristin,
and P.J., Dominic, Devin, Jordan, Leslie and a friend of hers, Mary
Luster, Allison MacNeill, Randy Cooley, Carmen, Preston, Preston Jr.,
Carol and Sheila Brannigan, Uncle Jackie, Uncle Louie, a friend a Uncle
Jackie, Monan Jean, Aunt Sonya, her sister and a friend, cousin Tony and
Anna along with Katrina and Niko, and Teresa Rayan. Most of the time all
the children were in the pool swimming.
The adults ate and played cute little baby
shower games. One game I was fond of in particular; everyone got a pin,
if you said "baby", you lose your pin. The person with the
most pins won a prize. Let's just say this was my forte.
Jamieson Journal 40
I got a pin
from Nat, Leigh, Dad, Dominic, Teresa, Randy, Samantha, Jordan and
Preston Jr. who had a collection himself. I ended up relieving my pins
to Jessica who won the prize. They had another game which everyone
guessed Missy's waist size by cutting a piece of yarn that could fit
around her.
We had 2 winners with that; Allison and Joey. They also had
a guess on how much candy was in a jar; Carol Brannigan won that one.
Capen received some great things, I was truly surprised on the gifts
people got.
I must admit, I was very unsure about the
whole thing, the baby shower, inviting the men, etc. but it seemed to
really go over and more importantly, I got to spend time with the entire
family on mom's birthday.
Jamieson Journal 40
The only no shows were John, Todd and Misty.
John is extremely ill at this time and they may have found more cancer
inside him. This whole ordeal gets me nervous because it sounds like he
is constantly dealing with no win situations.
How can one guy be so bad
off? They think the radiation he endured during his battle with skin
cancer may have caused some of these complications. Todd is quite
depressed right now.
He is having a very hard time with things right now
though I still would have appreciated his presence considering we are so
close. I'd say he could make it to the next one, but there won't be.
Jamieson Journal 40
The night ended gracefully, everyone seemed
to enjoy the time. I was a proud father-to-be.

August 30th,
2007- Devin
loses his job at Premier Adult Factory Outlet. It is somewhat uncertain
on how or why he quit, though he states they were shorting him on pay
and that his bosses were giving him a hard time on being slow.

August 31,
2007- Devin
got another job working for a plant nursery off of Holden and Orange in
Orlando. He starts tomorrow at 9am. Todd came over around 8:30 pm with
Jordan and hung out until about 1 am.
Our friend Curtis has been
staying with us for about 3 weeks. His wife Kinda and their children are
in Michigan with her family, Curtis is moving there though needed a
place to rest his head for these remaining weeks.
Kinda came into the
picture when Missy worked at Sonny's. Kinda and Missy became good
friends while there. Kinda is a Native American Indian, my age. We got
along immediately, she is very down to earth. Curtis, her husband, we
obviously met through Kinda. Curtis is a black man, hard-working,
specializing in stucco.
Jamieson Journal 40
He had helped us out during the Hurricanes by
bringing us a generator so we could keep the refrigerator cold. Scott
made the toast one day...."To Curtis", which has been said
numerous times since. These two have remained good friends to not only
us, but our family so when we had the opportunity to extend our hand in
favor we did.
Kinda flew in today and they are leaving tomorrow, driving
to Michigan. Good friends are hard to find, it will be bittersweet to
see them go.
Missy and I watched "Wild
Hogs" at night, funny movie.
Sept 1st,
2007- Devin
started his new job at 9am. Kinda and Curtis left at around
1:30pm.
Jamieson Journal 40
I have decided to add more
thoughts to this journal when it comes to my thoughts and relations with
people to help others better understand of my time and place:
It has been just a little over
a year that mom and Scott have past. Growing up I was a little reserved
with dad, though around 23 years old we began to see eye to eye. I
understood him better. Though in the last year, dad and I have gotten
real close.
It seems like a great mutual relationship, he is there for
me and has somewhat turned into a new man. He has compensated for mom,
things that were more important to mom, he has chosen to take more to
heart.
Jamieson Journal 40
Jamieson Journal 40
He embraces getting out on Sundays to play tennis and his actions
on my son being born seems to really play a role in his future thoughts,
knowing it is hard for me to not have my mother around for this. Dad
misses mom more than the world, but he holds on to the thought that they
should and could be together once again. He is a strong man.
Dad stays with Barry, though I
can't imagine it being real easy for either one. Barry spends good time
with him.
Todd and I see dad at least once a week, though with the
exception of the get-togethers we've had since last year, he doesn't
spend a lot of time with anyone else. He has had a few trips to
Wisconsin and to Alabama that has kept his mind going. He has seen a lot
of family in the last year under his ambition.
Jamieson Journal 40
Todd and I also see each other
more than once a week. Though he has had many ups and downs in the last
year, he still struggles to be there for everyone including dad.
He is
very occupied with negative thoughts on self-worth and has a hard time
finding his place in this world. Him and Misty just put a bid on a house
for $160,000. He is aiming to stop wasting his money on rent, to buy a
house that is his.
Jordan just went back to school, he was home schooled
for a couple years though he is well ready to spend some time with kids
his age and grade.
Jordan is a well-behaved boy, and is affectionate to
his family. Finding your place in this world seems to be a Jamieson
trait, I think Jordan has an edge on some of us though, his mind is
sharp.
Jamieson Journal 40
Devin has been with us for the
last 3 months. Though sometimes vulnerable and gullible, he is also very
warm to the family and is a very intelligent guy.
He is just starting
his life as a man which can be painful to watch sometimes never knowing
what kind of life decisions he will make. It is safe to say he will be
fine, he has a great personality.
