19th,
2007- Missy
felt as if her pregnancy was at it's end.
Certain things were happening
to her
to ensure us Capen wasn't far from coming.
After speaking to her
mother and a nurse, it was suggested to her she go get checked. It
wasn't until at night Carmen, Allison, Missy and I went to Winnie Palmer
Hospital to get Missy looked at. Our visit lasted until 3am.
Jamieson Journal 45
They almost
admitted her because Capen's vitals jumped down when the doctor buzzed a
vibration through her stomach, though after many tests they sent us
home.
November 20th,
2007- Missy
had an appointment with our Dr. , Ricardo Lopez early morning. After
explaining to him the situation, it was his discretion to send us
straight to Winnie Palmer to get her induced, he was upset at the
hospital for not admitting her with the certain complications we had.
So
by about 3pm we had her in Winnie Palmer to get her ready. As they
hooked her to machines and induced her, Carmen, Dad, Allison, Samantha,
Mary, Barry and several others stood by to wait what was told to us 10
to 36 hours.
Jamieson Journal 45
At about 8pm a handful of doctors rushed in, the baby's
vitals were going down every small contraction Missy would have. They
then broke it to her that Capen would most likely not make it through
normal birth.
Scared and shocked, they told Missy her options were an
immediate C-Section. Obviously, extremely frightened, Missy had to make
this decision which she did with no hesitation though tears streamed
down her face.
Everyone had to leave the room except me. They put an epidural
in her back and wheeled her into the operation room. I was getting my
scrubs on to enter the operation room where I would watch the entire
process.

I had a lot of fear or Missy, I had never seen her so scared, I
tried to stay strong and let her know it is going to be over before she
knows it. As they prepared her, I ran to the bathroom and by the time I
had come back I was sent to her operating room.
Missy laid flat with her
arms stretched from side to side. There was a sheet slightly under her
chest that went vertically upward. Immediately they started working on
her as I stared at her face to face. I could see the work the doctors
were doing on her, and I could see her fear until they asked me if I
wanted to see my boy.....and there he was.
Almost perfectly clean out of
the womb, this boy with eyes wide open fixated on the new world was
brought to my face. Then with a melted heart I looked at Missy and saw
all the fear gone from her face...she asked if his feet were OK, I told
her I didn't see his face though he had huge balls!
Jamieson Journal 45
The next 15 minutes
were a blur of the most wonderful, and unique feelings. Missy held Capen
and I have never seen a happier person in my life. He is exactly what we
wanted.

While Missy is in recovery, I sent everyone
up 1 by 1 with me to see Capen; Carmen, Dad, Mary, Preston, Barry,
Leigh, Samantha, and Allison; Randy Cooley and Preston Jr. were there
but left before I was able to send them up. Capen was the ninth baby
delivered by this doctor, Lombardi that day; and Missy was in #9 room in
recovery.
After about an hour they sent her to her room on the 6th
floor, RM 6220. We were told that we could keep Capen with us or they
would help take him from time to time to let us rest as they do for most
new parents, though we had him with us at all times, with the exception
of some tests, and a circumcision that happened on the 23rd.
Jamieson Journal 45
Capen was
born 19 inches long, was 7lbs 6oz, the best looking child ever. He was
born on a Tuesday, same as me. Barry is the Godfather.

We
left the hospital on the 24th which was Saturday, Capen came home at 2pm
on Saturday; Todd, Devin, Jojo, and AJ saw him on the 22nd, Teresa and
Sue saw him on the 22nd. Nat, Casey, Joey, and Evan came to the house
and saw him on the 25th.
Dad came and saw him early morning on the 25th
as well as in the hospital. Got calls from brother Randy, Leia, Tyler,
Dale, Uncle Dave, Alana, Jay and Melinda who cried when I talked to her.
Jamieson Journal 45
I have never seen Missy a happier woman in 15 years of being with her.
On a side note, we found out within the last 2 weeks that Casey and Evan
are having a child themselves to continue this generation of family.

November
22nd,
2007- Thanksgiving! The
family went to Nat's house and celebrated together there, except Rick
and Bonnie whom were out of state. Missy and I were still in the
hospital.
Jamieson Journal 45
Green Bay played Detroit and won 36-27 making them 10-1. I
held Capen and together watched his first Packer game while Missy slept
as she just had major surgery hours before.
November 27th,
2007- Doctor's
appointment at Dr. Lopez to get Missy's staples out.
November 28th,
2007- Appointment at the
Pediatrician; Dr. Deborah Marcus. Everything was fine, Capen now weighs
7 lbs 2 ounces as they tend to loose water weight.
Jamieson Journal 45
November 29th,
2007- Thursday football;
Green Bay vs Dallas. Missy went to Bingo with her parents, Capen and I
watched Packer game #2.
A storm came and dropped down all electric for
an hour and a half, I had no idea it was suppose to rain, lights out at
Bingo as well, Missy came back. The lights went back on right when the
game started. Packers lost 27-37 having their record at 10-2.
December 2nd,
2007- Capen is doing
great. He is eating a lot, Missy is getting a little nervous because she
doesn't feel as if she is producing enough milk to suffice him. Samantha
has been over everyday since his birth.
Jamieson Journal 45
Carmen and Samantha have been
going back and forth with meals they cook here. Capen is precious and is
always held by one of us. Barry and Lynn visited him on the 1st as well
as Todd. Dad, Todd and I played tennis at 8:30am to close to 1pm, this
was the first time I had left the house for any extent of time. Dad
stopped playing half way through, he wasn't feeling right.
December 9th,
2007- We played tennis;
Todd, Devin, Barry, Ron Morrison, and myself. Dad stayed home, he was
not feeling good still. He seems nervous of his medication.
We spent an
hour with him after tennis. Capen and Missy are doing well, we are still
trying to find his schedule. Green Bay beat Oakland making them 11-2.
Jamieson Journal 45
December 13th,
2007- I received a phone
call from Dad around 2pm telling me he was checking himself into Health
Central under his doctors orders.
Obviously no of us were real keen on
this considering our hatred for this place, though Dad chose to go there
for his doctor. He was feeling weak and rightfully so, his blood count
was down to 7 from 12 which also explains his absence during
tennis.
December 14th,
2007- Capen got his
casts on both legs for his bilateral club feet. The casts are set from
his toes to his groin. Every week the cast gets taken off and they set a
new one in a slightly different position to shape the bones correctly.
Jamieson Journal 45
After about 5 weeks Dr. Albright will do a surgery cutting his tendons
to position the ankles where they need to be. After another 3 weeks they
will remove the cast and then we will move to braces which will last
until Capen is 4. Carmen went with us to the appointment.
Capen did not
respond well to the doctor messing with him, though it did not take him
long to adjust. This will be a lot more difficult for Missy and I, it is
truly heart-breaking to see your new fragile child with casts overcoming
half his body. Though we know the severity of not fixing his club feet
now.
Shortly after, I drove down to
Health Central Hospital to see Dad who had been stationed in room 326.
He had an endoscopy done earlier which they found to be nothing
wrong.
Jamieson Journal 45
He seems very wore out. At 4pm they gave him a gallon of this
"Go-Lightly" drink that he needed to consume by 11pm. The
problem was with his congestive heart failure, this was causing him to
have problems breathing with all the liquid he was consuming. Todd
stayed with him the rest of the night sleeping on a couch in the room.
Barry took Dad in the hospital the day before; him as well as Nat, Todd,
Devin, John, Logan, Charlie, Samantha, and myself. Dad also got
consistent phone calls from Marilee, and Jay and Melinda called me
several times.
December 15th,
2007- Went to Health
Central to see Dad, Todd had been there since the night before. Dad just
had gotten his Colonoscopy and the results of that came back good. They
are sending him home on the 16th and then do further tests as an
outpatient.
Jamieson Journal 45
December 16th,
2007- I stayed home with
Capen and Missy. Green Bay won 33-14 by beated St. Louis Rams. They are
now 12-2. Todd called me to let me know Dad was good and out of the
hospital. (Fantasy Football has gotten to the playoffs.
Of 12 people
including Randy C. and Allison, Missy and I are playing each other in
the final game which will be decided in a week. We are in one other
league with Evan, Casey, Joey, Nat, Todd, Barry, and Allison, the final
in that league is Evan against Allison who squeaked in the playoffs with
a 7-6 record.)
Capen is taking to the casts
well, better than us. He is a beautiful boy, Missy and I are blessed
with a treasure, I love is already forming personality.
Jamieson Journal 45
Samantha and Leigh have been
working together for over a week now at a Bar/Restaurant called
Benchwarmers in Winter Garden, a place where Barry and Nat frequent.
