Our History starts with John Lapp born  April 17, 1786 in Kings County, NY. Though it is almost certain that John is the son of Jeremiah Lapp 1750 of Philadelphia, PA and Amy Smith, there is no birth certificate to prove this. John Lapp is found with the other children of Jeremiah in several census.

John Lapp was married twice, first to Amy ? about 1810. They have a son together named Asa Lapp born 1810. John's 2nd marriage was to Jane Ann ? born about 1807. Together they had three children, Ira born between 1836-1839, Lila born about 1840 and Margaret born about 1849 all in Ontario, Canada.

John Lapp died in Ontario sometime after 1861.
