Mitochondrial DNA Testing

Mitochondrial DNA Testing

Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is inherited through the mother. The mother gets it passed to her through her mother, and so on.....

The mtDNA that you have throughout your body virtually matches any and every generation of your mother's, mother's, mother's etc. bloodline.

Mitochondrial Eve is the name we gave to a woman who is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor. Eve's mtDNA is now found in all living humans. Eve is said to be about 140,000 years old. Because of Eve and population bottlenecking, any person will appear in every living person's family tree between 100-200 generations.

There are 38 groups (haplogroups) of codes that one can be labeled under. These groups are lettered... example; A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, JT, etc. These groups help defy where we came from and how we got to where we are today.

Mitochondrial (mtDNA) Testing can determine your ethnic background, match you up to living relatives all over the world, and map out the entire human family tree.
