John C. Wright Jr. was the 7th child of
John C. Wright 1716-1789 and Rachel
Wells 1720-1771.
John C Wright Jr. was born December 12th,
1748 in
Prince George County, Maryland. Growing up in the midst of hardships
with the Revolutionary war creeping around the corner,
and having his
grandparents killed and scalped when he was 10,
he was bitter to the peaceful
movement that his fellow Quakers were involved in.
The family moved to Hopewell, Frederick County, VA
where John
met his wife Jemima Haworth. Jemima was born there December 24th, 1747.
They moved with John's parents to Berkeley County, South
Carolina.
John Jr. and Jemima got married there October 10th, 1768.
From 1769 to
1789, the had 12 children together.

John WRIGHT b: 1775 in Newberry, S.C.
Joseph WRIGHT b: 1776 in Newberry, S.C.

Jonah WRIGHT b: 1781 in Newberry, S.C.
Jacob WRIGHT b: 1782 in Newberry, S.C.
Jane WRIGHT b: 1783
Joshua WRIGHT b: 1784 in Newberry, S.C.
Jemima WRIGHT b: 1787
Joab WRIGHT b: 1789 in Newberry, S.C.
Joel WRIGHT b: 1789 in Newberry, S.C.
Not willing to rely on peaceful
negotiations,
John Wright Jr. was taking up arms to boundary and protect his
family.
He was disowned August 21st, 1782
by the Quakers and some of his family
for taking up these arms in a war-like manner.
John C. Wright and Jemima Haworth Wright
stayed in the
Newberry, South Carolina area until his death of May 3rd, 1797.
Jemima lived for
another 25 years and died in Lessburg, Highland County, OH.

Their 2nd son was James Allen Wright,
born about in 1771 at Bush River, Newberry County, SC.
